Diatom genus key
The key is a flowchart key developed to allow non-specialists to easily and quickly identify cleaned mounted specimens to genus.
NEW: Up-to-date key added Fall 2013
The old key was made in 1990 for the diatom genera in New Zealand. It lacks a few North American genera and does not reflect post-1990 taxonomic changes (e.g., the separation of several genera from the genus Navicula).
