Shrub to 2.5 m (8 ft) tall, branches sometimes twining. Bark thin and shredding. Leaves opposite, pale- or grayish-green above and glaucous below, elliptic to rhombic, 2-4 cm (0.8-1.6 in) long and 1.5-3.5 cm (0.6-1.4 in) wide, entire, somewhat leathery. Terminal pair of leaves perfoliate, forming a disk subtending the inflorescence. Inflorescence a pair of 3-flowered, sessile cymules. Flowers bilaterally symmetric, white to pale yellow, 1.5-2 cm (0.6-0.8 in) long, blooming in Spring. Fruits reddish-orange, 5-15 mm (0.2-0.6 in) in diameter, ripening in late Fall.
Distribution: Western Oklahoma south and west to Arizona and northern Mexico.
Habitat: Exposed hillsides and canyons.
Comment: Lonicera honors the German herbalist Adam Lonitzer; albiflora refers to the white flowers.
