Andrachne phyllanthoides (Nutt.) Coult.

    Shrub to 1m (3 ft) tall, with many ascending simple branches. Twigs thin, wiry, glabrous. Leaves thin, broadly obovate, 1-2.5 cm (0.4-1 in) long and 0.6-1.5 cm (0.2-0.6 in) wide, short-petioled. Flowers monoecious, on thin stalks 7-14 mm (0.3-0.6 in) long. Staminate flowers fasciculate and petaliferous, pistillate flowers solitary and apetalous.

    Distribution: Found in scattered locations from southern Missouri to central Texas.
    Habitat: Dry hills, mountain slopes, rocky creekbeds.
    NWI status: none
    Comment: Andrachne is an old Greek name for another plant; phyllanthoides refers to a resemblance to Phyllanthus.
